More painting dear!!!

Not much has happened other than more painting. The shiplap which is going round the top to finish and fill the gap before the roof is topped off, has been undercoated and painted twice.

So far

So this is where we currently stand.  Waiting on some more profiles from the blacksmith (ordered). Windows still to be fitted and more importantly finishing off the roof.  Batons purchased and when we get them the shiplap which you guessed will need painting! So the outside is almost complete.

All in the Detail

The profiles round the windows have been fitted and have also now had primer and first topcoat.

Painting!

So the hardwood window frames and door are now finished ready for fitting.  Two coats of primer and 2 coats of topcoat. Phew that was a lot of painting. Much faster work when we moved them from the spare bedroom and into the hut!

Repair needed

After 2 months with the roof sitting on top it killed off the lawn. Already seeded and grown.

Oscar has been enjoying laying on the roof section and is determined to enjoy even when its suspended off the ground.

Between them Tom and Larry managed to hoist the roof up and slide over on to the hut, which has the OSB and outer vapour barrier already.

The components for outside the hut have been sitting on the deck since September but now we have a run of good weather they can at last get the first coat of paint.  They already have a green finish to them but they scratch and mark quite easily so they will be painted with Johnsons metal paint.

September 2015

In September we took delivery from Sally and Phillip at Tithe Barn Shepherds Huts of the curved roof, the sides, door and windows.  At the time I remember Phillip asking Tom how long had he given himself to build it, 12 weeks he says!!!!

A wet winter and other jobs that needed doing meant progress was slow. The frame work was made ready and covered. The floor added and covered to protect, then the roof was started and slowly built.

So it's been a while but finally the sides are up over the bank holiday weekend. A bit of work to do before the roof can go up.  That's now sitting on the grass to the side.

August 2015

By the August Tom had lined the hole with sleepers and filled with flamingo stones.  The base, as it stood was too long for our little garden and so he cut it down to fit.

Taking shape, Tom primed the base as so old concerned lead in the flaking paint.

The gazebo has been knocked down. Now to dig out this area, Tom and his spade ( a new one was needed half way through) dug out and filled 4 skips!!!  He says it was about 20 tonnes!

A find on ebay,Tom loved the idea of using this as our base to the shepherd Hut. Removing part of the fence to man handle it into the garden!  It's so big!

It all started 3 years ago....

at the beginning of June 2013 we had to deal with the dramatic loss of our 4 legged friend, Lucy Liu. We were at a loss of how to cope and what to do. Before we knew it the garden was being levelled, nothing like a bit of hard labour to help with grief. 

Well I won't bore you with all the details but over the next 12 months we went from greenhouse, gazebo and a loppsided garden to this.....

The Folly and an Italian inspired sunken garden!
